The vine and the wine have always been main aspects of the economy and the social and cultural life of the island. In the beginning, the production of wine was performed in order to meet the needs of each family. Later on the production exceeded the needs of the residents and became a high quality exportable product, during the expansion of shipping.
Somehow, that was the way that Grandpa Artemis Karamolegos had created his own small production of wine from his vineyards in Exo Gonia at Santorini. Time had passed and with the change of millennium the need for a major shift towards a modern and qualitative production got stronger.
This is when his grandson, Artemis Karamolegos, took over on 2004. The first, but most important step was the renovation of the old vineyards, the planting of new vineyards and the restoration of old ones by planting traditional varieties of grapes from Santorini, such as Aidani, Mavrotragano, Mavrathyro and Voudomato. Today, Artemis Karamolegos produces the bottled wines of the winery from the vineyards at Kamari, Exo Gonia, Pyrgos, Megalochori, Vourvoulos, Akrotiri, while he also buys large quantities of grapes from local producers.
